The teams behind „jerks.“ and „4 Blocks“ are coming to MCB17

This year, MCB will yet again provide a huge platform for innovative TV formats. Within the session “Film and TV Made in Germany – Meet the Teams”, two series – “jerks.” and “4 Blocks” – which are enriching the landscape of German TV with their blunt and authentic narrative voice will present themselves.

“jerks.” and “4 Blocks”: A story of exploring the limits of taste and an authentic perspective on Berlin’s criminal clans

Many critics regard “jerks.” as the best German comedy in a long time: maxdome, ProSiebenSat1’s online video portal, debuted the buddy series made by and featuring Christian Ulmen and Fahri Yardim in January. On “jerks.”, the pair are playing themselves and testing the limits of good taste with the help of a German film all-star team. Director and protagonist Christian Ulmen and his colleague Emily Cox, camera man Florian Licht and Marvin Lange (CEO at maxdome) will explain on our MCB stage why comedy doesn’t need to stop at heavy topics such as paedophilia, infant death and abuse.

Brutal and visually striking: according to the German newspaper DIE ZEIT, the highly praised Berlin gangster series “4 Blocks” need not shy away from comparisons to “Gomorrha”. Its six episodes tell a tale of friendship and family, betrayal, schemes and guilt within the setting of an Arab clan in Berlin-Neukölln. Kida Khodr Ramadan and Almila Bagriacik, director Marvin Kren, producer Quirin Berg (CEO at Wiedemann & Berg) and Hannes Heyelmann (Senior Vice President and Managing Director Central and Eastern Europe and International Original Programming Strategy) will talk about how strong, authentic language can work on TV at #MCB17.
